Consult a family doctor

General information

Already have a family doctor?

Make an appointment with your doctor by calling the FMG or medical clinic where they work.

If you need an appointment on the same day or the day after, it is possible that your FMG or medical clinic may offer you a consultation with a physician other than your family doctor

Don’t have a family doctor?

Please register on the waiting list for the Quebec Family Doctor Finder available at www.gamf.gouv.qc.ca.

Your request will be assessed and prioritized according to your health condition. It is impossible to say exactly how long you will be on the waiting list. The time varies depending on the availability of doctors in your region and the number of people on the waiting list in your territory.

Consult the Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF).

Primary care access point

If you are registered on the Quebec Family Doctor Finder AND you need to consult for a specific health problem, physical or mental, you have access to the Primary care access point (GAP).

The contact information for Primary care access point is available here.

Need urgent care?

For any minor health problem you can telephone Info-Santé and Info-Social by dialing 8-1-1.

If the 8-1-1 refers you to a professional (physician, specialized nurse practitioner, nurse or other), you can contact the FMG or medical clinic where your family physician practices. It is also possible to be referred to a service in your community (pharmacist, physiotherapist, optometrist, etc.).

If you do not have a family physician, you can contact the Primary Care Access Point (the GAP), by dialing 811, option 3.

If you need urgent care, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital Emergency department.
